Calgary breaks records while Calgarians fight blizzards in April

Calgarians were caught with the most snowfall in a month, and drove off a a winter storm in the month of…April?
The City of Calgary faced increased snowfall and cold temperatures on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.
The snowfall broke the previous record, with yesterday marking 22.3 cm, and the total precipitation was 21.2 mm. The records were broken within 24 hours of the snowfall.
The previous records were 12.4 cm in 1985 for snowfall, and 12.7 mm for total precipitation in 1985. April 20 has a record of 29.8 mm in total precipitation set in 1999.
The previous years of 2021 and 2020 saw no snow on the ground for April 19.
According to a press release, The City has postponed street sweeping for multiple communities.
They are Altadore, The Hamptons (North Portion), Skyview Ranch (East Portion), Bowness (West Portion), Scenic Bow, Thorncliffe (South of 56 Avenue), Greenview North and Fonda.
They will be re-scheduled for sweeping in June 2022.
